Last week, I happily announced that our weekly reviews had come to an end. Since this is a weekly review that would mean my previous post was technically a lie. Although I don’t plan to write a review of what we do weekly for our summer it was fitting that I write a review this week.
Christopher finished his curriculum last week and had his standardized exams. I, now wait nervously for the results.
Emmanuel read his first book this week. Remember the sneaky feeling I told you about our reading curriculum not staying on the shelf until September. Well, I was right we have jumped right in. Emmanuel completed lesson one and read two stories associated with his lesson. This week’s sound was at. We worked on cvc words ending in at. He is working on other cvc combinations as well. After he completed his computer lesson and workbook he read his first story Cat. Emmanuel is an eager student. One of the challenges with him is finding or modifying materials to suit his needs. Christopher started reading around six years old. Well it goes without saying there is more maturity with a six year old versus a four year old. Many of the materials that worked for Christopher are not suited for Emmanuel. My husband said he caught Emmanuel reading a book prior to bedtime earlier this week. I wish we captured the moment on film.
Joshua began his letter of the week curriculum. We traced the capital and lower case Aa. Read several books and learned short a words. Next week is letter b.
Christopher read several books to Joshua this week. Perfect time for Christopher to practice reading out loud while bonding with his brothers.
This week we are on vacation. We are headed to San Antonio and Austin for a week of fun in the sun.
