Spain was amazing. We spent most of our time in Madrid which is the center of Spain. We decided not to travel all over Spain and focus our time in one place so that we could really get the feel for the city. Had our trip been longer then we would have traveled more outside Madrid. We did travel to Segovia for one day which is north of Madrid I will write a post about that later.
Madrid is beautiful with so much to do and see. We did a few things but weren’t able to do all that we wanted. Oh well perhaps, another time. I am fascinated by the architecture. Everything there is so old and well kept, America is completely the opposite.
Below is the Plaza de Villa here you will see three buildings. On the far left the building was built in the 15th century, center in the 16th century and the third in the 17th century.
We visited The Prado museum. You are not allowed to take pictures but the art work inside is beautiful.
Hubby and I leaving the Prado.
I just love cities with roundabouts!
We visited The Royal Palace which is still in use today. It was a sight to see and I have to say. I had an emotional breakdown on this day, more on that later.
Here are a few shots inside. Once inside we were told we could not take pictures. I was wondering why we could not take pictures but then I figured out that they don’t want you to take pictures so that you can purchase the coffee table book. But after the day I had (ahem my emotional breakdown) I decided to rebel and take a few shots anyway.
Below is the throne room. My husband had something come over him when we got in the palace. He wanted to take pictures and I was convinced that we would get arrested because the guards followed so closely. I jokingly reminded him that I did not have enough euros to bail him out of jail so he needed to get himself together. So I decided that one of us had to remain sane so this is the last picture I took inside the palace. Oh man we had several good laughs that day. He dared me to sit in an old, old chair that would probably break if I sat in it, and of course I wouldn’t do it. But we laughed at the probable scenario of palace guards chasing us and how we deny knowing me.
That’s it for today. I have got to familiarize myself with the lessons for the week. I have been sick since our return to Spain and have not felt well enough to prepare. More photos from Spain coming soon.
